The best known sandalwood is the Santalum album oil from India, but Sandalwood can also grow in Hawaii and Australia, although they are not considered to be the same quality as Indian Sandalwood. It is pretty well known that Sandalwood from the Mysore region of India is almost extinct due to over harvesting and poaching. This has created a need for more sustainable practices to meet demand.

Sandalwood is a very good antiseptic agent and disinfectant. It can be mixed with a carrier oil and applied topically to prevent infections. It also has emollient properties and soothes and cools the skin. It can also be used to improve memory, strengthen concentration and relax the mind.

How to Use

Like many essential oils, sandalwood can be used in a diffuser for aromatherapy. This can be used to improve memory, clarity and relieve stress. In addition, sandalwood is very good for the skin.
